So i saw this Maplestory Theif Edition Application on the iPhone which was FREE on the 16th of July in the App Store. I decided to give it a go and here’s my review.
Here’s the Character Creation page. Cute huh? Yes, you cant name your character because you’re the only one playing the game. By default, you will be Male and exactly as how its shown above.
As you can see, the buttons are SUPER SMALL (at least for me) and i keep accidentally clicking the “Red Potion” button when i want to Attack (Bottom right corner with the Sword picture). The number above the Potion icon is also SO TINY i dont know if its finishing or not. I don’t pay much attention. Heh. The icon next to the Attack button is the Jump button.
Killing monsters is pretty fast. If you can hit the button fast enough, you’ll attack as fast. Also, its Auto-Pickup for items. No need to spam the ‘Z’ button, if any. As usual, job change is at level 10. In this game, i can only be a Rogue, so a Theif is what i’ll be. Only 1 Skill Point will be given per level because of the lack of skills to suit this small version of the game.
Here’s what the Equipment/ Item/ Etc. tab looks like. Just double-click the Equipment to Equip and hover to see the stats of the equipments. Its pretty straight forward here. Also, theres a Quest tab. To talk to an NPC you need to walk up very close to the NPC and press the UP button to talk.
Equipments are not cheap. That’s all i can say. Haha.
Basically:
- Small tiny buttons and display
- Fast attack (depends on how fast you smash your thumb on the Attack button)
- Cute
- Only Male version available
- NPC does guide you
- Top Left (Compass) is the Map. Click to see larger view.
PS: DON’T FORGET TO SAVE THE GAME BEFORE PRESSING THE HOME BUTTON. Go Briefcase > Options > Save Game. DONT FORGET. Coz I just found out that I lost my level 14 character. 😦
I’m not sure if its still FREE but you can try, eh? Just search for “Maplestory” and you can see that there are two versions, the Cygnus and Thief version

hey nisrockk, can you help me out with a problem regarding the potential system?
is % total damage better or % attack better?
like Total Damage +6% or Attack +6% better?
it’d be a great help if you could answer this.
Thanks in advance! 😀

Wow i’m sorry it took me a while to reply. I think % Damage is better due to the multiplier effect of the att formula.
% Att only improves your Weapon Att and does not take into account your Base Stat (DEX, STR, LUK or INT). Where as % Damage takes into account everything and it looks at your damage range.
Hence, % Damage > % Att.

whoa. thanks dude! 😀
just another quick question. >.< i've read from some forums that total damage do not stack. is it true?
so say like i've got a 2 lined weapon which is total damage 6% and total damage 3%, will it stack to be 9% total damage or only just 6% damage?

Yeah it does not stack.
The same attributes do not stack:
%Total Dmg does not stack with %Total Dmg
%Att does not stack with %Att
%Boss Dmg does not stack with %Boss Att
Where as different attributes/stats stack:
%Total Dmg stacks with % Att stacks with %Boss Dmg

ooh. okay thanks! 😀 but i think %att does stack though..
just one last question i promise! >.<
its regarding the venom skill for dual blade class.
well, according to many many guides that i've seen, venom at skill lvl 21 is supposed to be:
Level 21: Poison Chance: 31%, 113% damage every 1 sec for 6 sec
however, mine only deal damage every 1 sec for only 3 sec. i've tested it out and it's really only for 3seconds. you can see the picture in the link below.

is this a bug that every dual blade has? or is it just me? 😡
really really thank you for your great help! you the boss. 😀
